Winter Owl Birthday Card

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog!

This is the card I made for hubby's December birthday and I used my favourite scene in the paper pad for it. I bought this paper (linked below)  back in October and love that it can be used all winter long rather than just at Christmas. The 5x7" card was also perfect to feature this beautiful Winter Owl die. It was cut from white pearl cardstock and then the edges inked with a blending sponge for definition.

I stamped the sentiment with dye ink, but set it aside to dry for an hour or so since the paper has a glossy sheen to it. I could have clear embossed the sentiment as well, which I will have to do more of in the future.

Inside I used Karen Burniston's Twist Flower Pop Up with a stamped sentiment. I am just loving this die set and am getting a lot of use out of it. I also stamped a curved sentiment below the pop up label.

Embossed Floral Birthday Card

Back in October I shared a Mini Slimline sympathy card made with this Slimline embossing folder. I decided to pull it out again and make an A2 sized card with it. After running my cardstock through with the embossing folder I lightly rubbed dye inks onto the raised portion with blending sponges. It's soft and pretty and I was happy with the effect. Quick and easy, too!

Adding a stamped sentiment strip and some glitter dots my card was finished and ready to pop into my nursing home donation bin. I've shown my plastic envelope before in YouTube videos -  it's chock full of birthday sentiment strips. I just make a whole bunch in an evening so I'm not sure of which stamp I used on this one. I just like having them stamped, die cut and all ready to add to a card front.

Here is a peek at the inside ...

Sunflower Scene Pop Up Birthday Card

Now that I'm finished making holiday cards, I am back to creating with this card kit again. It's the "Bee Happy Cardmaking Kit" by Paper Rose, and I bought it early last month. I enjoy using card kits and I absolutely loved the images in this one. I also pulled in a few other items from my craft room, including this sweet scalloped die (Catherine Pooler) and the Mini Pops set (Karen Burniston) for the inside. This is the second card I'm posting with the card kit.

The ombre panel inside is actually from a note card set I've had in my stash for a few years. I cut the front away to use on it's own and I really like how it adds a pop of colour inside the card.

The sunflower bouquet pops up when the card opens because it's on one of the large angled arms from the Mini Pops set. I also added a few foiled bee stickers on the front, inside and envelope.

Mini Slimline Christmas Duo

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday on my blog! Today I'm sharing my final Christmas cards for 2023 and these two Mini Slimline cards helped me use up the last of a 6x6" paper pad.

The first card also uses the Winter Owl bundle (Stampin' Up) with a simple box pop up. The sentiment was trimmed from a sheet of borders in the pad - it was the last one!

The Pop Up strip measures 1 x 3", scored at .5, 1.5 and 2". I have several video tutorials on creating this type of Pop-Up, here are a couple:  Slimline Pop Up Tutorial (but the technique and measurements work for A2 cards as well) or Quick and Easy Pop Up Tutorial (from 2 years ago but I use it all the time).

The second card has a piece of snowflake printed acetate over the ornament patterned paper - I don't do this nearly enough as I really like how it looks. The ornament decoration is a Peel Off sticker I've had in my stash for many years - originally it was from Elizabeth Craft Designs. As was the Seasons Greetings Peel Off sticker.

The navy cardstock strip goes over the patterned paper but under the acetate, and the Seasons Greeting is on top of the acetate.

Inside I used my new favourite die by Karen Burniston ... the Twist Flower Pop Up. I love that it fits inside a Mini Slimline and Slimline card!

Arched Window & Deer Card

I have been really enjoying this 8x8" paper pad with the pretty winter scenes (linked below) and this card is one that I had in my head when I ordered the paper. I love how it came out and will be making more of these for next year

After die cutting the Forest Window from a white cardstock panel, I embossed it with a 5x7" embossing folder then backed it with the patterned paper. The deer is a die I picked up in early November and I bought it because it's so nice and big! I love deer dies - especially over the holidays, and this is the first one I've seen this size. The deer was cut from white pearl cardstock and I added a snowflake sticker to his flank.

Inside the card I added a stamped greeting and more snowflake stickers along with a leftover strip of the purple paper which I had used to mat the front panel.

While it's hard to see in the photo, that bottom strip is embossed with dots and it adds such a nice texture inside the card!

Our Groomer's Christmas Card & Gift Card Holder

When I saw this sheet of cut-aparts (Photo Play) I knew I had to buy a sheet. I love the colours with the fun dog images and the 'spa day' one was just too perfect for what I had in mind.

Since Jasper had a grooming appointment last week, I wanted to bring the groomer a holiday card that included a Gift Card. They always do such a good job with Jasper and he looks totally handsome when he comes out. Not like the 'homeless Sheltie' look he has going in, ha ha.

First up is the Gift Card Holder. I used the measurements in my Gift Card Holder Tutorial (click HERE) and some patterned paper that matched the card. The purse/dog was fussy cut from another cut apart on the sheet and popped up onto the scalloped oval with foam tape. I stamped WOOF! on the oval to fill up some of the white space and the front was done.

Inside, there is the pocket for the Gift Card, and one more WOOF!. We wrote a personal message onto the inside oval.

After matting the 4 x 6" cut-apart onto pink patterned paper, I stamped a sentiment on a fishtail banner and adhered it over the words that were printed on the cut-apart. Then I created an infinity shaker with a transparency and filler that resembled bubbles from a bubble bath.

I stencilled on the card front from the upper left to the lower right corner, and also added stencilling to the envelope.

Here is a peek at the inside. The dog on the spa towel was fussy cut from one of the 3 x 4" cut-aparts on the sheet and I added Nuvo Glaze to the cucumber slices on his eyes. Too funny.

Winter Owl Card

You will be seeing a lot of this winter scene patterned paper on my holiday cards! Even though I have more than enough Christmas cards for this year, I continue to make more and will do that in January as well. I like to work on next years cards while I'm in the holiday spirit but without the stress of a mailing deadline Don't worry though, I will share the new holiday cards sparingly until late 2024. 😊

It looks like this is the first card I'm sharing with these beautiful Winter Owls, a stamp and die bundle I bought back in October from Stampin' Up. I just love the set and have made some winter birthday cards with it and this paper as well. I'll be sharing those soon.  This owl & the sentiment were stamped on white pearl cardstock for some subtle shimmer. I also added Stickles to the stamped snowflakes and a couple of dots with Pops of Colour for a translucent, sparkly enamel dot look.

White on White Christmas Card

I am so happy with this card! The embossing folder is new - it was on clearance at Scrapbook .com in early November and I like that it not only embosses but it cuts away that centre area so you get this lovely embossed frame with one pass through your machine. On this one I backed the opening with snowflake printed acetate and the shine is amazing. Oh, and the embossed panel was cut with white pearl cardstock as well so there is shimmer from that.

Usually my holiday cards use older items from my craft room with maybe a new sentiment, but the front of this card uses all new goodies. Like that deer! I am crazy about that deer die (linked below) - not often you find one that is this large. I also bought it in early November and have used it a number of times already. The stamped sentiment is from a set by Stampin' Up which I added to my craft room recently. 😊.  The peel off stickers aren't really NEW, but I started a new sheet because I used up the sheet I started last year. Ha.

You can see in the photo below, a bit more of the shimmer & shine on the card. The deer was cut from white pearl cardstock and I added some layers to him (antlers & hooves). His rump also got a silver snowflake peel off sticker because ... well just because.

I kept the inside nice and simple, with a large stamped sentiment. I did use my MISTI to be sure the stamp got good coverage, since it is pretty big and I'm glad I did. There were a couple of spots that needed a second and third stamping! This is a large stamp set that I get out and use every year. I'm especially enjoying it now that I'm making so many 5 x 7" cards!

Circle Gatefold Shaker

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog. Today I'm sharing the 12th and final edition of my Monthly Series "New Fun Folds" and I used a new die set by Studio Light for this one. It's called Circle Shutter Card Essentials and I bought it in the fall from Ecstasy Crafts when I was ordering some Glitter Dots. I must have been in a shopping mood that day, as I ended up ordering a couple of card die sets! This was my first play with using one and I knew I wanted to use more of that pretty wintery scene patterned paper for my card.

I had also ordered the coordinating circle shaker blisters so decided to break those out too. This card took a little bit more thought and preparation than I am used to - I'm a craft-by-the-seat-of-my-pants type of card maker. It was worth it though and I knew just who I was making the card for.

This type of card - where you see the inside even when the card is closed - is truly outside of my comfort zone but now that I have one under my belt I will have fun playing with this die set in the New Year.

I added a panel to the back side which is where we wrote our personal greeting.

Stocking Shaped Card

Today I'm sharing the 12th edition to my monthly series "Shaped Cards".  This was a fun series and I will be making more shaped cards in 2024 as well!

For this one I used the Stocking Fold-its dies from The Stamps of Life, which I have had for several years. In fact, when I bought it, Stephanie was still designing for Sizzix ... now it's available on her own website TSOL.  I used an embossing folder on the burgundy piece to give it some texture, and rainbow holographic card stock behind the bow. The sentiment is one of the Simple Strips from Taylored Expressions and there is glittery washi tape (also old) on the envelope flap.

Below you can see the sentiment stamped inside. The candy cane die was included with the Stocking Fold-Its set.

Snowman Slimline Card

There was a leftover piece of this holiday paper from a different card, and it work perfectly for a Slimline card! I fussy cut the snowman from a different sheet in the package and added it to the front with a folded paper 'spring'. I also added some Stickles for some holiday sparkle and stamped the sentiment on a fishtail banner to add near the top of the card.

Here is a look at the inside ...

New Years Magic Iris Card

Today I'm sharing the 12th and final edition to my monthly series "Magic Iris Cards" and this one is a card for the New Year. I used some cloud themed patterned cardstock for the decorative panel,, the scalloped piece and the iris 'arms', and also gold heat embossed the bursts onto the front panel.

When you slide down the lever on the right side, the arms open to reveal the gold heat embossed sentiment. So fun! I have really enjoyed using this die set over the past year and even though I won't be continuing the monthly series I will continue to use this set.  The numbers and CELEBRATE dies are by Karen Burniston and I added gold sequins for additional sparkle.

I didn't really have a stamp that would work inside, so I ended up just handwriting the greeting. I also added gold Peel Off border stickers to the inside panel for a little more shine.
