Sparkle Shaker Birthday Card

Good morning friends

I had SO much fun making this card for a friends birthday. It started with the printed piece from a 12 x 12 sticker sheet that says 'Not all stars belong to the sky'. I had never heard that quote before and I loved the bright colours and starfish that were printed with the words.

I used coordinating patterned papers for the card, cutting Lynda Kanase's Photo Shaker Box from one of the prints and adhering the quote sticker at the bottom. I cut the word 'sparkle' from one side and backed it with black card stock so it would pop, then added a transparency behind it so I could add sequins inside. Then I remembered that Karen Burniston's new Tropical Scene had a little starfish die so I cut several of those from gold foil card stock and added them to the sequin filler.

The box was wrapped with jute and tied at the top to add to the nautical feel.

Inside I used the large Happy Birthday die paired with a sea turtle sporting a gold foil shell.

OK - here is the cool part of the card ... the shaker is removable! AND on a magnet so it can be used on a fridge, file cabinet or door! When you pull the shaker box off of the card, the white embossed words are revealed. It's a card and gift in one!

I used the same die meant for the transparency, and cut a self adhesive magnet sheet. That kept the edges nice and neat, and ensured a perfect fit. It also made the card a little heavy but I will be hand delivering it so weight is not an issue for postage.

The second magnet was sandwiched between the card front and the blue word panel so the shaker box can easily adhere and hold squarely. Below I have turned the shaker onto it's front to you can see how nicely the magnet fits on the back.

The Photo Shaker Box is fun, and so easily customizable for any occasion and not just for photos! Apparently our Granddaughter Alma (1 year) carried their Valentine Photo shaker around with her for days, until it fell apart - then she carried the Instax photo of her family with her, chattering away to it. How cool is that?
