Good morning friends
***NOTE: This is my second post today. Because this is an International Blog Hop, we all wanted to post our cards at the same time. Which for me is 10pm. But this morning I posted a cool Tent Pop-Up SNEAK PEEK card using a bunch of dies from Karen Burniston's upcoming release. Scroll up if you missed that one, or click HERE.
I'm really proud of how this card turned out, as I used the Brutus Monroe stamps in different ways to inspire you. This patterned paper was a 'free with purchase' - white with white embossed doily's on the front. I stamped the Brutus Monroe Cloud Background with dye inks then smeared them around with my finger as the embossed areas created a resist. It made such a cool looking background!
To get an ombre ribbon, I simply scribbled with a marker on a plastic palette and picked up the colour with a water brush. Then I just touched the ribbon where I wanted the darker colour and it seeped up the ribbon getting lighter as it went. Note, I did protect the patterned paper underneath until the ribbon was dry.
Here is a look at the inside, where I used the same technique and patterned paper inside. The Pop-Up base was created with the Cupcake Pop-Up, and I used the flower pot from the Flower Pot Pop-Up as the pot that the flowers are in. The flowers themselves were stamped, coloured with markers and a water brush, then fussy cut. I used a textured embossing powder on the flower pot to give it some dimension and added a few leafy sprigs as well.
Of course I added a bee and some glitter too as well as sparkle at the flower centres. The bee ties in with the Queen Bee sentiment below the pot of flowers.
The Word Set 5 Royalty works perfectly for Mother's day, and the words on the little banner are in the Brutus Monroe flower set (Conservatory of Quotes). It says "You are AMAZING, always remember that".
The Cupcake Pop-Up makes a great generic Pop-Up card, and since I use it so much that is what I'm offering for a PRIZE! Simply leave me a comment telling me why you like my card and be sure your email address is valid so I can contact you if you win. I will use Random.org to choose a random number from the comments and will draw for the Cupcake Pop-Up Prize on Thursday May 24th.

ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous card Katen just perfect!!!
ReplyDeleteCupcakes are great but flowers make one feel something beautiful (and there's no guilt with them) .
ReplyDeleteI love your card, not only because it is pretty but like me, you mix and match die components and come up with something unique. I've told ladies on my scrapbooking message board that the cupcake die is a good "first" popup die.
ReplyDeleteIt is easy and very versatile and if they don't want a cupcake, just cover the popup part with a shape and put anything on it!
Your mom got a fabulous card. I love the technique on the front and the wild flowers inside. Isn't that cupcake popup fun?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Karen!! Especially love how you did the lovely soft background!
ReplyDeleteSuch great inspiration ~ you just gave me an idea for some cardstock I've been clueless about using.
