Teacher Thank You Pop-Up Card

I'm back today with another card I made for our daughter to give to the grandkids' teachers at the end of June.

Inside is a Pop-Up using one of Karen Burniston's older Pop 'n Cut dies - with the THANKS insert and Sizzlit.

Heather was so happy to be able to give hand crafted cards (along with a gift) to these teachers who were so awesome last year.

Paper Pros August 2017 Challenge Card

Good morning friends

It's time for another Paper Pro's challenge ... this time Raquel Mason issues the challenge to make a monochromatic card.

I have to say I really struggled with this one which is weird as I normally like to make monochromatic cards. I probably tried to start a card 4 different times and nothing would come to me. Finally I had an idea to use Autumn colours with lots of crisp white and went with that.

The front of my card features the cloud die from Karen Burniston's Nature Edges. The stitching line is above and below the cut line so you can use both the positive and negative portions of your paper. I used one of my water colour backgrounds, made with Color Burst and Magical Shakers. I know lots of people are getting similar looks with their Distress Oxide inks but since I have the water colour powders I'm choosing to stick with those. Never mind that I love them. Ha!

Here is the inside, made using the Tree Pop-Up. This is such a fun tree - and so easy to assemble! There are two pieces ... trunk/branches and then the foliage cuts in a single piece. I cut the foliage out of the same water coloured paper and added white gel pen lines to the trunk and tire swing.

I added yellow dots inside each of the indents that cut with the Katherine Label , and also a die cut HELLO. The pink in the water coloured piece kind of throws it out of the monochromatic range, but I'm calling it 'artistic license'. Ha! To get the dimension on the background, I adhered fun foam to white card stock then cut it with the dies. It can be tricky not to get creases in the card stock, but most of the pieces worked ok on this one.

Sending Happiness Succulent Note Card

Good morning friends

This is a card that started out with a bunch of bits and pieces leftover from other cards. I love it when a pile of scraps comes together to make a finished card!

The Stamped and fussy cut succulent had been coloured with markers, but I had just opened my new Oxide Inks. Initially I bought just a couple of colours to see if I liked the inks, which of course I DID. I have added a couple more colours now, and Mr. Tim has released an additional 12 colours already. They are very popular inks and it's no wonder. Anyhow, I smeared a couple of the inks on my already coloured piece and let it dry. The label and arrow were stippled and sponged with the same inks.

Into my stash with this one - having a few Note Cards on hand is never a bad thing.

Evergreen Pop-Up Holiday Card

Good morning friends

I have a Christmas card to share today ... working on holiday cards throughout the year was one of my goals for 2017. When I received this paper pack I couldn't wait to crack it open and play.

The tree element is actually the part that falls away from the largest Pop-Stand piece inside. I simply cut another trunk from brown card stock. The gold foil border cuts from a die that is included in this Pop-Stand set by Karen Burniston.

Here is a look at the inside. I adore these expanding trees. They swing freely when the card is opened, but fold up completely flat when the card is closed.

Hmmm ... not the greatest photo of the expanding tree part, but it should give you an idea.

C4C397 Cheerful Hello Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday so that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. It's a new month so we also have a new Hostess and Guest Designer. Our August 2017 Hostess is Raquel Mason and Fran Sabad is our Guest Designer. You can find Fran's Blog HERE. 

Raquel's challenge this week is: Summer Fun – Let’s keep it simple for the summer and make a bright and cheerful card. 

I'm thinking a rainbow coloured goofy dog is pretty bright and cheerful!!

I really have a lot of fun with Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop-Up and used it here with one of my water coloured backgrounds. I cut a window from the card front and framed it using the label dies that come in the set,

To add a little more definition to the dog, I used Zig Clean Colour Markers on his ears, nose, tongue and collar. Just a light touch blended with a water brush. I went over his eyes with a white gel pen then dotted the black back in with a black glaze pen. His nose has glossy accents.

Love those Nuvo Crystal Drops. 

I also added two of the Nature Edges and the little stitched detail piece on the front is from the Twist Panel Pop-Up. The Hello (love that sweet script Karen Burniston has for her word dies) is from the Word Set-1, Greetings. I've sure gotten a lot of use out of that set since I got it!

This card just makes me happy. I used both Color Burst and Magical Shakers for the water coloured background.

Balloons Flip-It Birthday Card

Good morning friends

It's Flip-It Friday here on my blog and I have a Birthday Flip-It card to share today that I'm donating to Seniors Secret Service.

I really like the size of these - folded, it is a full 5 x 7".

All the decorator dies come with the set, and it was fun cutting the balloons out of different colours. You can make them any colour you wish so they always coordinate with your patterned paper or card stock.

Since I've been making several feminine cards to donate, I thought I should do one with a more masculine feel. I think this card would work well for both though.

80th Birthday Butterfly Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

A friend of my Mom's will be celebrating her 80th birthday, and Mom asked me to make a special card for her. Since Lois likes butterfly's, that is what I went with!

My friend D came for a few hours playtime and had an extra sheet of this paper she didn't think she'd use so I used it for this card. I managed to use some older butterfly dies & punches as well on this one.

Inside I used Karen Burniston's Katherine Label to animate the lacy butterfly!

Below you can see the box that forms on the end of the arm, so not only does the butterfly raise up, it also pop's out. Note - I added a strip of transparency to the box, and mounted the butterfly to that.

The Katherine Label Pop-Up is such a fun die - and can be used for any theme or occasion. You don't have to cut a window in the front to use it either. I'm sure Lois will enjoy her custom Birthday Card, and I know my Mom will be happy giving it to her.

Teacher Thank You - a Shaker Card

Good morning friends

I offered to make some Teacher Thank You cards for Olivia and Ethan to give their teachers at the end of June. I'll be posting the others in the coming weeks, but thought it was time to get at least this one posted!

This Stamps of Life Apple Die came in very handy for my cards, which in fact is why I purchased it when it came out. I believe it may have even been a Flash Sale, but at any rate it will get lots of use for teacher cards. This one was inspired by Laura Bassen from Pinterest.

I decorated the inside but still left lots of room for the kids to sign and write their message.

They were certainly blessed with amazing teachers this past year.

Chair Thanks Fold-A-Long Card

Good morning friends

Today's share is a card I made to include with a cheque for wonderful lady who cleaned our house. We were having a pile of company and I was having an RA flare so she fit us in. It was wonderful having a nice clean home to offer our guests.

The patterned paper is from the farm themed stack I used for 'Farm Week' cards here on my blog back in June. It has silver foiled bits on it - you can see in the photo that the frame and a few of the chairs are silver foiled. I added the punched banner and some Nuvo Crystal Drops as well as a die cut 'thanks' to the front. I tied the bottom edge with Bakers Twine to hold the card closed ... no accidental reveal of the fun inside!

The card base uses the Ticket Fold-A-Long die which creates a unique pop-up card. I wasn't sure what do to with the label inside. Was it supposed to just be inserted under the tabs? Is it supposed to be removable? I found that if it shifted at all, then the card wouldn't close again and I know that people will often open and close a pop-Up card to see the animation. So I ended up adhering the label inside the tabs. It still works the same, so maybe that is how it's supposed to be done. At any rate, that is how I use this one.

There was lots of room for me to write her a little note, and the fussy cut chair is silver foiled.

The card didn't take very long to make, and I know "S" really liked it. I love taking the time to do something special for people and to let them know they are appreciated. What a great hobby this is!

Cactus Gatefold Card

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog and I have a Gatefold card to share today using older paper from my stash.

I really like these cactus/succulent dies so used them again here. The pot was wrapped with some twine for dimension.
