Lake Scene Book Card

Hello!  Today I'm sharing a card for Masculine Card Monday here on my blog ... but my post had to get moved until today. It still counts, right? Ha. I used the Book Card with Layers die set from Divinity Designs, which I purchased last year and haven't used nearly enough. This card started when I went to my stash to select a Birthday Card to send to a friend and discovered I didn't have any fun fold or pop up masculine cards in there. What???

Our friends live near a lake in BC, so I pulled out some older Hero Arts stamp sets. I stamped the scene on a white card panel that measured 5 x 3.75", then used the layering dies to cut them to fit the inside of the pop up portions. It was a good way to make sure I could get everything I wanted to in the scene.

Oh, and the front of the card was stamped with a partial image of a beautiful stamp by Penny Black called Quietude. That was die cut and matted with Karen Burniston's Crosshatch Rectangles.

One more look at all the dimension you get with this Book Fold!  Since I didn't leave much room to write a note, I added a Kraft panel to the back side and that is where we signed our names.

Since people generally turn cards like this over so they can view it from the top - I've included a photo of that view as well.

Once I got this card finished and in the mail, I immediately broke out an older, unused Paper Pumpkin kit that I recently purchased and will be making those into Paper Pumpkin Alternates with Pop Up's so I don't run into this situation again. I am usually really good about making my cards ahead of time, so I don't know how this friends' birthday got by me until I was scrambling.
