Slimline Christmas Card Duo

Hello crafty friends

Today I'm sharing a pair of Slimline Christmas cards using the September Sheetload of Cards sketch and cutting guide by Alicia of Call Me Crafty Al. This one was a lot of fun, and I have used it several times since it was released at the beginning of September.

I've actually had these cards finished for a couple of months. I pulled out this pad of patterned paper that I've had for several years and decided that I try to use it up with my holiday cards this year. I don't make a lot of New Years Resolutions, but two years ago (or maybe it was three?) I decided to stop buying patterned paper. Not completely, but I LOVE patterned paper and seemed to be drawn to the constant new releases. Which is fine, but no way I could go through a whole paper pad before I purchased another new 12 x 12" pad. Or two. SO ... I have been VERY selective on what patterned papers I buy now and have really enjoyed poking around in my big pile of them for creating cards. And finally ... I am starting to actually use UP some of those 12 x 12" pads!

My first card is a horizontal Slimline, and I used some REALLY old embellishments from my stash. The poinsettia is SOOO pretty, and obviously didn't get used before now since it was too large for an A2 card. It was probably intended for people to use on a scrapbook page.

The patterned paper has lots of glitter embedded in it as well - I love sparkle on a holiday card!

The second card uses the sketch in the same orientation as on the guide, but I used the same patterned paper for the decorative panel as on the background. Since I have had the paper pad for a long time there are lots of smaller bits and pieces inside, and I was able to use one of those up too.

Another couple of the K & Co 3-d Stickers that have been in my stash for YEARS, some Glitter Dots and seam binding and my card front was done.

Inside, I wrapped the seam binding around the corners of the white panel and added a stamped sentiment.
