Watering Can Sympathy Card

For the 6th edition of my monthly series "Shaped Cards" I pulled out the Watering Can Fold-Its from the Stamps of Life and created a sympathy card. I knew I wanted to use this polka dot patterned paper in grey, and the rest of the card came together quickly. 

I have always loved the daisy punches from Stampin' Up (two sizes) and the coordinating stamp set. Here I stamped them in Catherine Pooler's Twilight ink and punched them out.

You can see I added Nuvo Glaze to the flower centres so they are raised and shiny, then I pulled out some greenery dies and scraps of green cardstock for the leaves. A stamped sentiment & a little bling and the card front was finished.

I trimmed off the inside back - just a sliver - along the bottom edge so the card will stand for display.

Wintery Faux Step Mini Slimline Card

Today I'm sharing the 6th edition to my monthly series "12 Months of Christmas". Last month I created a 5 x 7" Faux Step Card and I liked it so much I wanted to try a Mini Slimline version. I really like this one too and hope to do a tutorial for it over the summer. 

I pulled out the Magic of Winter package from Echo Park - I used it a LOT last year and still have many bits leftover for even more cards. Since I wanted to feature one of the cutaparts from the package, my measurements are a little different than they would be for a 'regular' Faux Step Mini Slimline card. I didn't even really take note of the measurements for this one - it was a 'let's see if this works' type of card.

Since I used double sided patterned paper for the accordion base, the penguins on the back were upside down. I cut a same sized piece as the back panel and added it so the penguins would be right side up on the back of the card. 😊

The sentiment is a Funnybones stamp from Riley & Company, and even though it's JUNE, I'm already tired of winter. HA - that should tell you how much I dislike winter and being cold.

Butterfly Curvy Gatefold Card

I spent some time in February trying to USE UP a big stack of 6 x 6" patterned paper that had been part of a Stampin' Up paper share several years ago. I'm happy to say that this card used the final sheet! A lot of the cards I made with those papers won't be shared on my blog, simply because there are so many of them. I have shared a few and have a few more to come but I mostly made birthday cards to donate to my Mom's old nursing home.

Today's card uses the Curvy Gatefold die set by Creative Craft and I added Lawn Fawn butterflies.

Here is a peek at the inside, with a stamped sentiment and another butterfly. I also used a small leftover paper strip. Since I am low on Thank You cards, this one will go into my stash.

I added Wink of Stella at the bottom edge of the solid letters, but it was hard to photograph. It adds such a lovely shine as it catches the light.

'Hello Sunshine' Paper Pumpkin Alternate Card with a Pop Up!

Each week I have been sharing my alternate cards made with this older Paper Pumpkin Kit "No Matter The Weather" from March 2020. For this one I used one of the smaller cards & envelopes in the kit - it's approximately 3.5 x 5". I love the lined envelopes that come with these kits!

Adding a stamped sentiment from the Rainbow of Happiness set and Nuvo Glaze to one pair of rainbows, my card front was done. 

Inside, I added the sun from Karen Burniston's Tropical Scene, and the Hello Sunshine from her Word Set 6 - Summer. The mechenism is the Little Twist Panel Pop Up. I love how it fits in a variety of sized cards! 

The rainboot stamps are probably my favourite out of the two sets that were included in the kit - so I fussy cut two pair and added one pair to each of the outer pop up panels. KB's Labels & Frames Crosshatch had the perfect sized die for our personal message.

Fun Fold Birthday Card

Today I'm sharing the 6th card in my monthly series "Throwback Fun Fold Dies" and I started with this Ticket Fold-a-Long die set. I thought these dies were fun, and ended up with three different Fold-a-Longs over the time they were available. 

This one (Ticket Fold-a-Long) uses a bunch of older items in my stash, including the lovely vintage paper (from K & Co). I don't know what it is about outline floral dies that grabs me, but they do. This one is an older die set from Stampin' Up ... the year it was released there were two that I REALLY wanted, but I had to choose and ended up with this set (Hand Penned). LOL, I do keep an eye on the Facebook group where Canadian's can purchase retired Stampin' Up sets though ... in case someone is selling the other set I wanted. 😊

I guess I should call this more of a hybrid Fold-a-Long card, as I incorporated a 'bendy' card idea for the inside (the band that goes across the inside folding centre) and an accordion folded cardstock spring.

Camping Themed Cards

I have had this package of Odds & Ends by Doodlebug for ages and decided to make some camping cards to have on hand. I just pulled out some older patterned paper and had fun choosing what I would add to the front of each card.

I laughed at the card below when it was all finished. I had specifically chosen those elements one evening to make a Platform Pop Up Card with. When I was making the cards the next day, I completely forgot about that and adhered them onto an A2 sized card instead. Ha.

I added both Nuvo Glaze and Pops of Color for additional sparkle and shine ...

Below is the last A2 sized card. I would have sworn that I did a quick video showing the cards and how I decorated the insides, but I can't find it! I didn't take photos of the insides because this post is already photo heavy enough. However, I pulled an older travel themed stamp set out of my stash and the verses and words were perfect for these cards.

This truck and camper piece was too long for even a Mini Slimline but worked great on a Slimline card. The road Washi tape I have had in my stash for a long time.

Finally, a Mini Slimline card...

I figured these would be great cards to have in our camper so if I am writing a note of thanks or whatever, I would have them on hand. I expect there will be campgrounds and staff that go above and beyond when we are out and about, so that is why I thought these would be good to have.

Since so many of the cards used older items, I will only link a couple of things below. I don't even have information on a lot of the supplies anymore.

Teacher Thank You Shaker Cards

I made a bunch of teacher appreciation cards for the grandkids to give their teachers at the end of the school year. I wanted to use up some of the cut aparts that had been in my stash for a couple of years, so made faux shakers and these are the cards I came up with.

I just pulled out some filler from my stash ... love those little apples and will have to see if I can find some more of them for next year.

I added panels inside some of the cards that were decorated with Washi tape and stamped images/sentiments.

The inside of this last one uses Lawn Fawn's Giant Thanks So Much die. 

The bookworm has Nuvo Glaze on the eyeglasses so they are raised and shiny. 🥰

Paper Pumpkin Alternates, Easter Card Trio

Yes, I'm still sharing Easter cards. 😊  I had been working on this Paper Pumpkin kit in early Spring and thought I would make some of them into Easter cards. A few I sent out this year and the others I will hold onto until next year.  Between the daffodils and the bunny ... I couldn't help but make Easter cards!

The inside sentiments are Mini Strips (stamp and die) by Taylored Expressions. I did the inside of all three cards the same.

Underwater Slimline Birthday Card

Today I'm sharing the Slimline Birthday card I made for an ocean-loving friend. The colours and patterns in the Slimline pad are SO soft and pretty and they were perfect for this card. I used a craft knife to cut away the three Polaroid style frames on the front panel, added the main piece to the card front then popped the frame piece back into the opening with foam tape. Love the lift and dimension it gave the card.

The little jelly fish are from Karen Burniston's Sea Charms, and I cut the bottom layer of the jelly fish from acetate so they are clear and shiny. The top layer was cut from rainbow holographic mirrored card stock and I just adore how cute they are. Simply snipping off the hanging holes on the charms give you embellishments so they do double duty.

I added a few clear enamel dots that were leftover from a Paper Pumpkin kit, and finally aded the die cut Happy Birthday. On a whim, I added wet glue on top of the words and sprinkled on chunky glitter. Not sure that I'm entirely happy with it but that glitter is dried on there good, and no way I was pulling the card apart and potentially wrecking that lovely slimline panel.

Inside I added another one of the Slimline papers from the package and stamped a sentiment on a white circle. That is added (along with a blue frame) to one of Sam Calcott's paper springs for a little movement.

Floral Birthday Card

I had some of this double sided patterned paper leftover from the Mug Shaped Gift Card I did for our daughter's Mother's Day gift (see HERE for that one) so I made this card to donate to my Mom's old nursing home.

This layout has been a favourite of mine for years ... and it works especially well with double sided papers. I added a small piece inside the card for another pop of colour and the card was finished.
